WHAT ARE THE INNOVATION ACADEMIES?
The six academies focus on ARTS INTEGRATION, GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS), HUMANITIES IN PRACTICE (HIP), MINDS IN MOTION, SPACE (PBL), and STEM.
This integrated planning academy model supports the CCSD goals of learning engagement, deeper learning, and student voice while aligning strategically with local school initiatives.
Each academy offers specialized and interactive PL training to empower school-based teams that will support the implementation of innovative practice at the school level. Common elements of each academy include teacher-designed digital portfolios, social media sharing, and the opportunity to be a part of the Cobb Innovative Showcase in the spring!
HOW CAN SCHOOL TEAMS PARTICIPATE IN AN ACADEMY?
School principals can select a team of teacher leaders to be a part of an academy that best aligns to their school instructional goals and strategic plans.
Links at the top of this page lead to descriptions and an application link for each academy. Each academy may target different grade levels and content and has a maximum number of participants. The academies are scheduled during specific dates and times during the school year. You will also note that a content-area supervisor is listed as a contact should you require more information or have any questions.
The applications for the 2020-2021 academies are now open! The application deadline is January 13, 2021. Click on the individual academy tabs at the top of the page for more information.
