K-8th STEM Innovation Academy Information
Purpose & Audience: The K-8th STEM Innovation Academy is intended for K-8th established STEM/STEAM schools, those early in the planning/implementation stages and those interested in developing problem-based learning (PBL) experiences in the classroom. Participation in this Innovation Academy will support teachers working to cultivate STEM/STEAM-enriched learning opportunities. These opportunities encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for student success in STEM related college and career fields.

- Collaborate and engage in STEM thinking
- Deepen their understanding of effective integrated math, science, technology and engineering (STEM) instruction
- Design a unique problem-based STEM experience based on school goals, priorities and/or desired outcomes
- Integrate content-area standards and objectives to create authentic, problem-based STEM opportunities for students
- Have the opportunity to engage in a STEAM strand
- Determine next steps for implementation and sustainability
K-8 STEM Academy Dates:
All meetings will be held at: KSU Center, 3333 Busbee Dr, Kennesaw, GA Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Specific schedule details will be sent prior to each meeting. The STEM & Innovation Department will cover the sub cost to send four teachers from each Cobb school on each date. You may send a larger team, but the local school must cover the additional sub cost. The same team attends each date together. |
